- You want to use a 74LS04 (not 7404), and, yes, you can tap the power from
- the Amiga. See the following to drive "digital" RGB from the Amiga:
-
-
- AMIGA RGB (23-PIN D) IBM RGBI (9-PIN D)
-
- pin 6 DI ---------|>o-------|>o-------------- I pin 6
-
- pin 7 DB ---------|>o-------|>o-------------- B pin 5
-
- pin 8 DG ---------|>o-------|>o-------------- G pin 4
-
- pin 9 DR ---------|>o-------|>o-------------- R pin 3
-
- pin 11 HS* --------------|>o------------------- HS pin 8
-
- pin 12 VS* --------------|>o------------------- VS pin 9
-
- pin 16 GND -----------------------------:------ GND pin 1
- |
- pin 23 +5 ------- pwr of 74LS04 +------ pin 2
-
-
- Each of the |>o is an "inverter" in the 74LS04; this means you need TWO.
-
-
- I have another circuit from Glenn Keller (ex-Amiga Los Gatos hardware person)
- that "adapts" the Amiga's RGB to a proper signal for a monochrome monitor
- (by removing the color burst, etc.), but there's no reasonable way to "draw"
- that using the keyboard "graphics." It, too, is self-powered from pin 23 of
- the DB-23.
